Description

The teaching hospital is one of the pillars of health care in Prague and in a number of the fields it is also a top class medical facility in the Czech Republic . The hospital is a clinical basis for the 3rd Faculty of Medicine at Charles University and there are situated   scientific research working places.  At this moment there are 1 333 beds in the Teaching hospital, where  there are  hospitalized more than 35 000 patients per year. Approximately 600 000 patients per year are treated in more than 60 casualty-wards. The increasing range of medical care and a lot of other activities, which are related to the hospital, and the enormous progress of medical science and medical technology are  advancing the constructional and  space development of the premises.  Especially the buildings, from the beginning of 20th century, when the “General and public hospital of the emperor and king Franz Josef I., of the Vinohrady and ®iľkov districts ” was established and also the buildings from the middle of the same century  became outdated very fast from the moral point of view. Similar situation exists also in the technical and namely in the traffic infrastructure.

The structural plan serves for a long term and  flexible planning of existing premises and the new construction, namely with the respect of  the intention to establish the Trauma centre, which is related  with centralisation of offered care in the non-internal branch, which has significantly contribute to meet the vision of the next development of Teaching hospital. The goal is to verify the possibility of the given territory exploitation for chosen plans and the capacities of the proposed facilities. The structural plan proposes the functional and the space arrangement in the district, so it sets zoning of the plot on basic areas with different purposes to comply with the mutual operational context among the zones in the future during all stages of the new building construction and of the reconstruction.
